We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Southend. This role offers an opportunity to support students who require tailored interventions and a nurturing approach to education.
The Role:
- Supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and manage emotions effectively
- Assisting the teacher in delivering a structured, engaging curriculum
- Providing one-to-one and small group support
- Implementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
- Helping to create a safe and positive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience working with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to de-escalate challenging situations effectively
- A proactive and adaptable mindset
- A background in youth work, sports coaching, or mentoring is advantageous
