Maths Instructor – SEMH School

Are you passionate about teaching Maths and skilled in managing challenging behaviors? We are looking for a dedicated Maths Instructor to join our SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school in Southend on sea, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging Maths lessons to students with SEMH needs, structuring the classroom to support individual learning and progress.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors, creating a positive and safe learning environment.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Implement strategies to improve focus, engagement, and emotional regulation, helping students to overcome barriers to learning.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel supported both academically and emotionally.
- Collaborate with other staff members and professionals to create a holistic approach to student development.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working in a SEMH or SEN setting, with strong behavior management skills.
- Be confident in delivering Maths to students at various academic levels, using creative and adaptable teaching methods.
- Be able to manage a structured yet flexible classroom environment, accommodating individual learning needs.
- Have a calm, patient, and resilient attitude, able to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Hold a relevant teaching qualification or significant experience in tutoring or instructing Maths.
