Recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer - with mechanical bias (some electrical)for a long standing company in Southend on Sea, Essex. Hours are Monday to Friday 6am - 2pm. Or if preferred you can do set hours of 12noon to 10pm Monday to Thursday. For the day shift salary is 45k plus benefits. For the late shift the annual salary is 48,500 per annum.

As a Maintenance Engineer this role will carry out preventative, reactive and improvement maintenance. It will involve Mechanical pneumatic and hydraulic fault resolution and mechanical component repairs with some electrical work when needed. The person will assist in the implementation and maintenance of quality systems and ensure the company complies with all areas of the Health and Safety at Work Legislation. As a Maintenance Engineer you will work alongside the Engineering Manager, Engineering Assistant and any contract engineers on site.

Main Duties and accountabilities

  • Maintain and repair machinery and equipment according to planned schedules.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out remedial action prioritising for minimum disruption.
  • Redesign and build to improve efficiencies and machine running
  • Ensure essential equipment, tools and parts are available by effective ordering and/or sourcing.
  • To carry out and implement risk assessments.
  • To act as Fire Marshall

Education/Qualifications

Time served Mechanical maintenance Engineer with a minimum 3 years post apprenticeship experience.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Experienced in a Manufacturing environment preferably food or packaging
  • Experienced in preventative, reactive and improvement maintenance, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic fault resolution and mechanical component repairs including belts, bearings, chains and sprockets
  • Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise effectively
  • Good understanding of technical diagrams and manuals
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills in both Microsoft Word and Excel
