Your new roleSouthend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Strategic Commissioning Officer.You will be required to cover all age commissioning with a focus on all age carers and managing the caring well strategy and partnership group across Southend.

You will co-produce change with people who need support, their friends/families and the residence of Southend. You will provide commissioning and project support to specific commissioning work streams. Also, you will help to develop commissioning plans that enable service users and carers to exercise choice and control in relation to how their needs are met and that ensures value for money.

Using market intelligence, supply and demand data and the views of service users and their families, you will inform the de-commissioning, redesign and commissioning of services, using co-production principles. Also, ensuring effective delivery of commissioning projects, you will ensure effective project reporting and monitoring of benefit realisation.

Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position, you must have previous experience as a commissioning officer, with knowledge of current national social care policies and an understanding of current NHS national, regional and local priorities.

Have a keen knowledge of the local health and social care system across Southend along with experience of commissioning or planning and managing tendering and supply chain projects.

Along with this, you are required to have excellent project management and organisational skills, along with the ability to manage tight deadlines and manage priorities.
