Your new roleSouthend City Council are looking to appoint a permanent children's experienced Mental Health Senior Practitioner to join the Fostering Team.Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2/3 days per week.

The successful candidate will provide foster parents with support systems and monthly group supervision, alongside individual group supervision. They will take the lead in identifying those children scoring high on the annual SDQ and lead on ensuring the creation of management plans for young people with mental health and EHWB needs.They will participate in the CLA forum and CLA Consultations for Southend CLA in conjunction with EWMS provided by NELFT.There will be a need to provide effective and therapeutic assessments and interventions for young people with mental health and EHW needs, who are CLA by Southend City Council.

What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.

A degree in psychotherapy/counselling and training in therapeutic interventions is desirable but not essential. You will need to have experience in completing and presenting reports for panels, court and other professionals in the child and foster carers professional network.You must have knowledge of relevant psychological theories and be able to apply theory to practice.

Knowledge of child protection, issues affecting children looked after and awareness of welfare rights and understanding of issues of loss/bereavement.
