Your new company

Hays Recruitment are supporting a primary school in Southport who require a motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support their students. This is a long-term contract with the possibility to go permanent from next academic year. Ideally, we are looking for someone that can commit to full-time equivalent hours, but part-time options are available.

Your new role

In your new role as a Primary School Teaching Assistant with Hays, you will work alongside class teachers and your new colleagues to promote a stimulating, inclusive, and accessible learning environment and offer 1:1 and group support in all subjects. Other duties will include intervention and booster sessions, phonics, classroom management, behaviour management and building the self-esteem of your new pupils.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful with your application, you need full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days of referenceable experience supporting children and young people in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Previous experience working with children/students between the ages of 5-11
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning is advantageous but not essential.
  • The ability to take a person-centred approach to learning
