My client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant to manage the Sales Ledger and Credit Control function. This role is a crucial part of the finance team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounts receivable while also supporting the wider financial operations of the business. The successful candidate will be the key point of contact for customer invoice queries and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth financial transactions.

This position reports to the Finance Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the credit control function, ensuring the timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Manage credit control activities with a calm but firm approach, maintaining positive relationships with clients.
  • Handle and resolve invoice queries and disputes efficiently and professionally.
  • Assess customer accounts regularly for potential bad debt risks and report concerns to the Finance Management Team.
  • Maintain aged debt within the limits set by company leadership.
  • Support the month-end process by providing relevant financial data to the Finance Supervisor.
  • Raise invoices on a weekly and monthly basis using automated systems integrated with accounting software.
  • Process Direct Debit collections, ensuring that customers adhere to agreed payment terms.
  • Run financial reports, perform reconciliations, and conduct basic data analysis.
  • Adapt to evolving financial systems and contribute to process improvements.
  • Provide cover for team members during absences.
  • Work independently to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of accuracy.
  • Maintain strong MS Office skills, particularly in Excel, and stay up to date with relevant software training.
