GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEN Support Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic primary school in Nottinghamshire. About the Role:

In this pivotal role, you will work closely with children with a variety of SENs, providing both individual and small-group support. You will assist in the delivery of tailored learning plans, ensuring that each child can access the curriculum in a way that meets their specific needs. You will collaborate with the classroom teacher and SENCO to ensure the highest standard of education and care for students with SEN, creating an inclusive, nurturing environment that allows each child to flourish.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Support Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide individualised support to students with a variety of SEN, helping them to engage with the curriculum and build key academic and social skills.
  • Assist in the creation and delivery of tailored learning resources and activities, ensuring they align with students' individual needs and abilities.
  • Offer support to students during social and emotional challenges, helping them to develop coping strategies and self-regulation skills.
  • Work in close partnership with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor student progress and report on their development.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment, helping students to feel safe, supported and motivated.
  • Assist with classroom management and provide behavioural support when necessary, ensuring a positive learning environment for all.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and expertise in supporting children with SEN.

SEN Support Teaching Assistant (TA) requirements:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Support Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, with a proven track record of supporting children with a range of special educational needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various SEN, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), dyslexia, ADHD and emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with children, teachers and parents.
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a qualification in special educational needs (or equivalent).
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
