ROLE OVERVIEW
As Biomass Boiler Technician you will be working in a plant nursery facility as part of the site facilities team. Your role is key to
maintaining the operation of the biomass boilers overnight and ensuring downtime is minimized in any unforeseen breakdowns.

  • Maintaining regular feeds and taking delivery of wood/pallets are all part of this role.
  • Full training will be given on all biomass boiler systems; however, we are looking for someone who is flexible.
  • This role is permanent nights, but the first two weeks will be a day shift due to the requirement to attend training.
  • Mon - Friday
  • Night shift 19.00pm 03.15am 7.5-hour shift with 45 mins unpaid break
  • Additional flexibility to cover adverse weather, holidays - Weekend availability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout boiler houses and wood stores.
  • Maintain inspection documentation relating to biomass boilers
  • Communicate and work well within a nursery team to maximize boiler efficiency.
  • Work effectively and efficiently to meet specified output requirements.
  • Notify facilities team of issues or need for repairs found during shifts.
  • During the summer months there will be a requirement to move onto a day shift working pattern to assist the growing/ facilities team with the planned site support service work.

KEY SKILLS

  • Able to work at heights and has good mobility to get around our large site.
  • Able to work nights with some flexibility to workdays to attend training.
  • Experience of working in a nursery environment in the horticultural or FMCG industry is desirable.
  • A valid UK driving license or own travel.
  • Forklift license.
  • Resourceful, proactive and can do attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Honest, friendly, approachable and good team member.
  • Solid judgement and decision-making skills.
  • You will be able to work on your own initiative to a high standard, always maintaining site safety
