A rapidly-growing retail organisation based in Peterborough are looking for a Database Administrator to join their Data & Insights team, and take ownership of the maintenance and ongoing development of their data estate.

This is a hybrid role, with the ability to work from home 2 days per week. You will spend the other 3 days in their sociable office, to collaborate with the wider team. They often go out for office socials, and there's a great team spirit running throughout the organisation.

They have identified data as being absolutely critical to their growth strategy, and there is a huge amount of growth potential both in this role and the wider team. They've recently built a brand-new Snowflake data warehouse to centralise their data, and are striving to automate reporting wherever possible to enhance business decision-making.

In this role, you'll use your SQL skills to maintain their databases though typical Database Administration duties including performing back-ups, disaster recovery planning, performance optimisation and security. You will also use an ETL tool called Rivery to build data pipelines to get data into their data warehouse, though prior experience with Rivery is not required.

Ultimately, you will look to make improvements wherever possible, and will ensure that the data is as clean, accurate and secure as possible, so that the Analysts in the wider team can access this easily to create their reports. You will take real ownership of this from a technical perspective.

This is an excellent opportunity for a data professional to join an organisation where you can make a real impact from day one - they're fast-paced and ever-evolving, and there is a real appetite for the work you will be doing.

Requirements:

  • Strong skills in SQL database querying, optimisation, and working with relational data models
  • Experience with various DBA tasks including backups, disaster recovery planning, performance optimisation and security
  • Knowledge of Snowflake would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with ETL tools would be beneficial
  • Comfortable liaising with stakeholders at all levels

Benefits:

  • Salary up to around £40-50,000 depending on level of experience
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, plus opportunity to buy additional days
  • Group Life Insurance
  • Pension - 3% employer and 5% employee
