On behalf of our client, a leading organisation in the FMCG sector, we are seeking a dynamic Shift Manager to oversee and manage a high-performing production team. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking leader who can drive both performance and engagement, fostering a positive and proactive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the daily production operations, ensuring key targets are met while developing and engaging the team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Lead, coach, and inspire the production team, encouraging a culture of accountability and excellence. You will be responsible for motivating team members to consistently deliver high standards of quality and productivity.
  • Operational Efficiency: Manage the production plan, ensuring the effective use of resources and that production standards are consistently achieved. You will ensure compliance with machine speeds and that manning levels are aligned with daily requirements.
  • People Management & Engagement: Conduct regular zone meetings and 1-to-1s with your team to promote engagement, set clear performance objectives, and provide feedback. Handle all aspects of performance management, including absence, attendance, and disciplinary matters in line with company policies.
  • Training & Succession Planning: Identify and address training needs within the team, ensuring that succession plans are in place and that staff are equipped with the skills necessary to progress within the organisation.
  • Health & Safety: Maintain and promote the highest standards of health, safety, and hygiene within the production facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices.
  • KPI Management: Oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Production Per Hour (PPH), and safety metrics, ensuring that targets are consistently met and that the team strives for continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a production or FMCG environment.
  • Strong people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate, engage, and develop teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of production processes, planning, and health & safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with both senior management and shop-floor staff.
