We're looking for a Genomics Researcher to drive forward groundbreaking research in plant genetics. This role offers the chance to lead internal and external research projects, develop genetic markers for breeding programmes, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry. What You'll Be Doing:
- Managing and developing genomics research projects, ensuring strong collaboration with partners.
- Identifying, sourcing, and developing markers/genes for commercially valuable traits.
- Using bioinformatics and genetic techniques to enhance breeding efficiency.
- Keeping up to date with cutting-edge research, exploring new technologies, and embedding best practices into the business.
- Improving genotyping protocols to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Exploring methods to increase genetic diversity and breeding speed.
- Working closely with internal teams, external research institutes, and industry leaders.
- Leading and motivating a small team to achieve their full potential.
- Ensuring high standards of health and safety, compliance, and best practices across all research activities.
What We're Looking For:
- Ideally you'll have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong experience in plant biology, genetics, or genomics (agriculture or horticulture background is a plus).
- Experience developing genotyping and sequencing protocols.
- Experience working with external research organisations and collaborating on research projects.
- Excellent attention to detail, scientific knowledge, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal.
- A proactive mindset, eager to explore new ideas and challenge the status quo.
- A full driving licence and flexibility for occasional European travel.
