Our client, a leader in the power utilities sector, is seeking a dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join their team in the North East, with the requirement to travel throughout the UK as required. This permanent role involves working on exciting projects within power distribution and energy sectors, focusing on utilities and electric vehicle charging points.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project finances from inception to completion, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to manage financial aspects and contractual obligations.
  • Provide commercial guidance pre-contract, including risk assessment and contract negotiation.
  • Support bid processes by reviewing scope changes and clarifications.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from pre-construction to on-site delivery.
  • Administer contracts (NEC, bespoke, JCT), ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Manage procurement activities, subcontractor agreements, and pre-start meetings.
  • Track project costs, cash flow, and financial forecasting in line with project milestones.
  • Handle final accounts, claims, and variations to ensure commercial success.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience in quantity surveying, particularly within power distribution and utilities.
  • Understanding of NEC contracts and commercial functions within the energy sector.
  • An engineering or construction-related degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and industry-specific software packages
  • Good working knowledge of construction and engineering processes and contracts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, motivational, and empathy skills.
  • Chartered membership of the RICS (or working towards it) is desirable.
