The opportunity

Global Talent 2020 are proudly working with our exciting Scottish based Restaurant, Bars and Hotels client for their well-established venue in St Andrews seeking a Head Chef to help drive their operation and lead their boutique multi-faceted venue.

The group operate 20+ sites across the entirety of Scotland and have a great reputation for running independently styled, high-volume outlets with fresh food, strong procedures in place and great service.

They are looking for a talented and passionate Head Chef to join their highly reputable and very busy venue right in heart of St Andrews. The venue is extremely unique, with the bar and restaurant being part of a larger boutique hotel.

Experience with bedrooms is an advantage, and our client would consider people from a hotel background however the bulk of the revenue comes from the bar and restaurant operations.

Event experience is a big advantage as the venue runs very popular wine pairing evenings and a popular Sunday Roast menu to give you the chance to flex your culinary muscles.

Community engagement is a must, its important this person really knows St Andrews and its unique market. There are opportunities to get involved in the local community and think outside the four walls of the venue.

The person:

Our reputable client at Global Talent 2020, is looking for a creative leader in the kitchen to maintain and build on the venue's success. The responsibilities include managing the team of around five, setting up the kitchen to success, adhering to the company brand standards, H&S standards and continuing the high reputation of the venue.

The ideal Head Chef candidate must have had prior experience of producing fresh quality food and had experience of volume restaurants in the high street space. You will need to be highly approachable with your personality, as you will be interacting with other senior department heads, regional management, and with all levels of the site diverse teams.

Our client requires an ideal Head Chef, that is keen to train, coach and mentor their teams, evolve food services, deliver consistent menus and food concepts, and further the reputation of the business as an Employer of choice.

As the Head Chef, you must be proven to be flexible, and highly adaptive in all your approaches to your team, and with delivery of concepts developed with the company Executive Chef.

As Head Chef, you must also be someone that not only has strong all-round culinary abilities, great presentation skills, possess food innovation skills, but someone that also is an effective manager of the kitchen environment, health, and safety, COSHH, RIDDOR, recruitment, training, and mentoring of others, and possess strong cost & budgetary control skill sets of their area.
