Currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer based in Wales - To provide guidance and ensure standards are being followed in accordance with the requirements of the business goals, objectives and AS9100 accreditation.

This role involves leading and mentoring a multi-disciplinary team, providing technical guidance, and supporting the professional development of team members to drive continuous improvement and project success.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the managing a team of engineers focussing and on time delivery, quality and accuracy of work packages from Chief Engineer, supporting the business in achieving site KPIs.
  • Assist the allocation of tasks and projects with the team as a whole, according to skills and product types, balancing this with the capacity of the department, taking into account holidays / sickness and providing opportunity for cross-fertilisation of process and product knowledge.
  • Leads the development of new processes, R&D, improvement projects.
  • Responsible for specification or the support self-funded design projects (CAPEX).
  • Perform the roles and responsibilities of Lead Engineer within the NPI, Design and R&D

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Process mapping
  • PFMEA/control plan development
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Awareness of optical manufacturing & assembly techniques, optomechanical engineering principles, latest manufacturing philosophies, measurement system analysis, process capability.
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Experience of lean manufacturing and six sigma (DMAIC)
  • Ability to lead and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project goals
  • Strong coaching and conflict resolution skills to support team development
