A well-established British manufacture is seeking a Production Operative to support the machine shop enabling them to meet their deadlines. This is a varied role that includes conducting finishing work in the machine shop, producing sub-assemblies for the assembly team, build and test basic finished products, managing raw material deliveries including unloading, booking in and storage and emptying swarf bins when needed.

You will have exposure working within a manufacturing environment with good manual dexterity, IT and communication skills working with minimal supervision and a great work ethic and self-motivation.   

A forklift license would be desirable, however full training is provided.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deburring, clean, tumble and drill components as required
  • Assisting with centreless grinding
  • Use the forklift truck to empty swarf bins, unload raw materials and load goods for despatch
  • Build sub-assembly, building and testing basic finished products
  • Support apprentices and additional staff during peak periods, allocating job and instructions
  • Book in materials and sub-contracted jobs when they arrive from the supplier
  • Ensure the ERP system to book in materials and sub-contracted jobs and ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly and on time
  • Occasionally deliver and pick up products locally using company vehicle
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures  
  • Carry out any duties that may be assigned by the Machine Shop Manager, Production Scheduler or the Operations Director
  • Essential you are commuter literate to log information on the ERP system
  • Complete all associated documentation and ensure compliance with ISO9001 procedures
