Our small dynamic Commercial and Procurement Team is expanding due to increased work and new business.You will have the opportunity to grow with the team and benefit from excellent career progression opportunities linked to this role and MASS as a business. Its a really exciting time to be joining us with many big projects in the pipeline.

In this role you will provide support in the provision of advice and guidance to the business on commercial, procurement, contractual and export matters across all MASS sites.

The location is our headquarters at St Neots in Cambridgeshire, which has recently been refurbishedwith open plan office spaces and breakout areas, as well as the latest tech equipment in meeting rooms and on desks. Hybrid working will be available once you are fully up to speed (minimum of 3 days in the office per week).

How youll support us

This is an exciting opportunity to be fully involved in supporting the busy Commercial, Procurement and Export team at MASS :-

Commercial: Working on commercial agreements that include NDAs, MoUs, Teaming agreements and Software Licence agreements. Supporting Business Development and Bid Management functions as well as the Commercial Team on all aspects of contracts and commercial agreements.

Procurement:Negotiating with suppliers and placing orders, supporting acceptance of goods & services, working to continuously improve the function and maintain the MASS approved supplier database.

Export Control:Understanding of export control legislation and guide/advise on all aspects relating to export requirements of the business. Control and apply for all relevant export licences /documentation.

Essential experience

  • Experience in a commercial / contract /subcontract management capacity
  • Proven experience of negotiating, managing and changing contracts and subcontracts
  • Proven capability in forming and maintaining beneficial partnerships
  • Understanding of basic business finance, profit and loss, margin and mark up, escalation, foreign exchange
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills that enable building and maintaining relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Dynamic and tenacious, with strong interpersonal skills, with ability to influence and persuade others
  • Ability to work unsupervised at times
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Desirable experience

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent), ideally in Law or Business
  • A good understanding of the Commercial and Legal aspects associated with contracting within the UK Defence industry (or similar sector)
  • Understanding of Export Control and Compliance, including UK export and ITAR
  • A desire to learn and self-improve
