Job Title: Financial Accountant - 12-Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: St AlbansHybrid Working: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home

Contract Duration: 12 months

Overview:We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to oversee the financial and statutory reporting for our client's French entity. This key role involves managing financial accounts, supporting audits, ensuring compliance with French GAAP, and interacting with both local and international teams. A high level of fluency in French is required to handle official documentation and legal communications. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented, qualified accountant looking to make an impact in a fast-paced, international setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Work closely with the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and business teams to prepare, analyze, and ensure accuracy in the monthly financial statements for the French and Swiss entities.
  • Process journal entries, ensuring all transactions are fully documented and supported.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are addressed and documented.
  • Manage and update the fixed asset register and construction in progress accounts, ensuring proper capitalization and depreciation practices are followed.
  • Provide key financial data and supplementary reports to the US team for year-end and quarter-end submissions.
  • Ensure all financial controls and compliance regulations are adhered to in the region.
  • Partner with French consultants to accurately prepare, file, and submit statutory reports, tax returns, and audit materials.
  • Coordinate with global and local auditors to facilitate internal, external, and tax audits.
  • Handle any ad-hoc finance and business requests in a timely and accurate manner.

French Language & Compliance:

  • Monitor the PEC (French government's electronic mailbox) for official communications and take appropriate action on urgent matters.
  • Translate, summarize, and facilitate the signing of official French documents for English-speaking authorized signatories.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Significant experience with French GAAP and managing financial reporting in an international context.
  • Proven ability to manage statutory submissions, tax filings, and audits.
  • Fluency in French (both written and spoken) is essential for translating and interpreting official documents.
  • Strong understanding of accounting practices, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial compliance.
  • Experience in collaborating with international finance teams, particularly with teams in the US and France.
  • High attention to detail, with excellent organizational and communication skills.
