Accounts Assistant Apprentice– £23,400 starting salary– St Albans

The Role

Are you ready to take your first step into finance? Do you want to gain valuable experience while working towards your AAT qualifications? This is an exciting opportunity to join Selectaglaze Ltd as an Accounts Assistant Apprentice.

You’ll work closely with our experienced Accounts team, gaining hands-on experience while studying for your AAT qualification. The role will involve:

  • Learning and assisting with key finance tasks such as maintaining bank reconciliations, purchase and sales ledgers, and recording stock movements.
  • Communicating effectively via email and phone with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
  • Gaining practical knowledge of accountancy software and processes.

Key Learning Objectives:

  • Reconciling daily bank accounts and processing transactions in accounting software.
  • Maintaining accurate purchase and sales ledgers, resolving invoice and statement queries.
  • Recording stock movements and raising purchase orders.
  • Managing accounts inboxes, prioritising tasks, and resolving queries.
  • Assisting with credit card expense processing and preparing supplier payments.
  • Supporting month-end tasks and ensuring ledgers are up to date.

The Person

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including Maths and English.
  • Lives within a commutable distance of St Albans.
  • Is detail-oriented, accurate, and eager to learn.
  • Communicates well and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Has some computer literacy, ideally with experience in Excel.
  • Previous office experience is desirable but not essential, and training will be provided to the successful candidate.
