Plant Operator

Salary: 35,000 + Benefits

Alecto Recruitment is working with a leading figure in the Anaerobic Digestion sector, who is actively looking for a Plant Operator to work on a day's only shift, maintaining and operating the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the safe receipt of food waste deliveries and ensure the AD process runs efficiently to meet site targets. Operate plant equipment such as telehandlers and other machinery.
  • Perform maintenance and safety checks as directed by the Site Manager, ensuring that all work complies with the Environment Permit (site licence), ABPR, and PAS 110 regulations. Contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Operate key systems and machinery including the SCADA monitoring system, weighbridge, and food de-packaging machinery
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness on-site through general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by management, including safety, compliance, and operational data.
  • Interact professionally with clients, drivers, operational staff, and management connected to the site and deliveries.
  • Support the team with site maintenance tasks and offer assistance across other sites when necessary.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Standards:

  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment by adhering to all health and safety guidelines, including the use of the Company Safety Application to report near misses and incidents.
  • Follow all relevant company policies, procedures, and safety systems to maintain operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous experience in plant and machinery operation, specifically telehandlers.
  • Health & Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and compliance with environmental permits.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, weighbridge operations, and food de-packaging equipment.
  • Willingness to work weekends, bank holidays, and participate in the call-out/standby rota as needed.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, clients, and visitors while maintaining exemplary behaviour.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certification in telehandler operation or other heavy machinery.
  • Experience in the waste management or anaerobic digestion industry.
  • IT literacy to operate site monitoring systems and basic software.
