They provide professional design, engineering, and manufacturing services across the commercial and residential sectors.They're seeking a Principal CAD Designer with experience using Advance Steel or Tekla. This role would suit a Mid-Level or Senior Designer with an Industrial Product Design or Engineering degree who is looking for their next challenge, which involves leading a team of designers within a successful, growing business.Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Lead a team of CAD designers in designing bespoke structural and architectural metalwork structures
  • Develop unique designs ranging from complex steel extension work to ornate, one-of-a-kind conceptual metalwork
  • Control workflow, monitor performance, and deliver the CAD drawings for each project
  • Develop, improve, and maintain CAD processes within the department
  • Use Autodesk Advance Steel to create, assist with, amend, or finalise layout drawings, including bespoke and associated construction drawings
  • Develop structural engineers' details by creating 3D general arrangement (GA) models using Autodesk Advance Steel
  • Liaise and coordinate with external design architects, engineers, building contractors, and internal departments
  • Ensure the delivery of targets by setting measurable KPIs within the department
  • Set up and maintain an organised file system for all drawings and associated templates for ease of use. You would also be involved in the daily running of the department, which could include estimating

Experiences required

  • Competent 3D CAD modeller using Tekla or Graitec Advance Steel. Similar CAD packages will be considered (e.g., Vectorworks, Autodesk Revit, ProStructures)
  • Experience designing for structural steel or fabricated metal products
  • Held a senior position leading, managing, or coordinating teams
