Senior AccountantLocation: Remote/Hybrid (Office in St Albans, with twice-monthly visits required)Salary: Up to £65k (depending on experience)About the Role This role has been created due to the company’s continued expansion and the increasing workload of the current owner. They are looking for a capable professional to take on key responsibilities as the firm grows further.As a result, this opportunity offers predominantly remote working. However, if you are interested in taking on a leadership role, including team management, additional office presence would be required.The firm has achieved consistent year-on-year growth through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. You will have the opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping its continued success.Additionally, the business is planning to relocate to a more accessible, public transport-friendly area. This means candidates based in London who do not drive will also be considered.Key Responsibilities
  • Statutory Accounts Preparation – Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close – Lead financial close processes, ensuring timely and precise reporting.
  • Strategic Financial Guidance – Provide clients with valuable financial insights to support decision-making.
  • Process Optimisation – Work with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and improve efficiency.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Stay up to date with regulatory changes and ensure full compliance with tax laws.
  • Mentorship – Support and mentor junior team members, fostering their professional development.
Qualifications & Skills
  • ACCA or ACA Qualified/Near Qualified – Strong professional credentials.
  • Experience – Proven track record in an accounting firm.
  • Accounting Knowledge – Deep understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Software Proficiency – Competent in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks and/or Xero is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills – Strong analytical abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
  • Adaptability – Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
Remuneration & Benefits
  • Salary: Up to £65k (depending on experience).
  • Holidays: 23 days of annual leave.
  • Hybrid/Remote Working: The firm supports remote and hybrid work arrangements. However, you must be available to visit the office in St Albans twice a month. If you are interested in a future leadership role, including team management, additional office hours would be required.
