Private Client Solicitor - Wills, Trusts & ProbateLocation: Hybrid (St Albans, UK)Salary: Competitive, based on experienceContract: Full-time, PermanentPQE: 2-9PQEThe OpportunityA highly regarded law firm in St Albans is seeking a Private Client Solicitor to join its leading Wills, Trusts & Probate team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with a strong technical background to work on complex private client matters within a Legal 500 Tier 1 and Chambers HNW Band 1 ranked team.The firm has one of the largest and most experienced private client teams in Hertfordshire, advising a wide range of clients, from local families to high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and celebrities across the UK. The role offers exposure to a diverse caseload and the opportunity to develop expertise in a specialist area of private client law.The RoleThe successful candidate will handle a variety of private client matters, including:

  • Inheritance tax and estate planning, including advising business owners and wealthy individuals.
  • Estate administration, including high-value and complex estates.
  • Trust creation and administration, working with a specialist trusts team.
  • Lifetime planning, including Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and Court of Protection matters.
  • Working collaboratively with family, corporate, property, and employment teams to support high-net-worth clients.

Candidate Requirements

  • 2+ years PQE in private client law (up to 9 years PQE considered).
  • Strong technical expertise in wills, trusts, probate, and estate planning.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle complex cases.
  • A client-focused approach, taking responsibility for service levels and client relationships.
  • A motivated and proactive attitude, with a willingness to engage in business development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player, able to work closely with other legal departments.
  • Good IT skills, with experience in probate case management systems being advantageous.
  • A STEP accreditation (or working towards one) would be highly desirable.
