A leading contractor in the water sector is expanding its engineering team as part of a major AMP8 framework. They are looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team, working on a diverse programme of water and wastewater projects worth hundreds of millions.

The Role:
Lead the development of mechanical designs that are cost-effective, practical, and meet project specifications.
Ensure designs are optimised for construction and long-term performance.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Support the development and improvement of processes and design standards.
Contribute to proposals by providing technical input and cost estimates.
Ensure all designs comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
What We're Looking For:
Strong expertise in mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment projects.
Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution.
A degree or master's in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
A solid understanding of key mechanical systems used in water treatment.
Ability to produce efficient and cost-effective designs while considering installation and operational factors.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Full UK driving licence.
