Senior Technical Manager

Up to £75k per annum
Mon-Fri 08:00 -16:30 with occasional Saturdays
My client is part of a well-established PLC supplying fresh produce to UK supermarkets. The group has grown steadily to become a leading supplier and now comprises over 100 acres of high specification growing, packing and grading facilities.
They are recruiting for a Senior Technical Manager who will play a pivotal role leading the technical team.
As a primary point of contact, you will provide technical advice in respect of the growing and packing of product. Working closely with the Head of Technical, you will:
- Manage the day to day running of the technical team.
- Assist with adherence to customer requirements through the Q.A. Department.
- Hold and oversee third party audits in order to help maintain key accreditations.
- Hold and oversee internal audits inter-departmentally.
- Deliver technical training.
- Be 'seen’ in all areas of the company, including the growing and packing areas.
- Manage formulation and regulatory requirements alongside the team.
- Assist with adherence to customer requirements through the Q.A. Department.
- Help develop packing and packaging specifications, ensuring compliance with EU/UK legislation relating to food production, transport and sale.
- Work closely with Operations and the Senior management team.
Skills and experience required:
- Proven experience in a Technical Manager or similar role within fresh produce industry.
- Strong knowledge of Food Safety & Quality Management Systems, HACCP, and BRCGS standards.
- Excellent technical knowledge and a strong background in delivering and linking with internal & external stakeholders.
- You will have a strong work ethic, able to work alone and as part of the wider team.
- You will be highly analytical.
- Capable of challenging and influencing third parties for mutual business benefit.
