Assistant Yard Manager

Location: St Albans

Salary: £28000- 30,000 per year (depending on experience.)

This client has grown to be the largest independent turf supplier in the Country since the company formed 24 years ago, and now employ a team of twenty three highly motivated and experienced individuals to make sure the highest levels of customer service is always delivered. The Company now seek a vital new team player to be part of this exciting, award-winning business to help provide the critical link between the office and end customers, where face to face communications are critical.

Key Role

  • To maintain consistently high standards of customer service without exception
  • To work as an integral part of a small team to ensure all customer orders are prepared in accordance with company specification
  • To facilitate and assist with the loading and unloading of lorries as directed in a safe and efficient manner

Main Duties And Responsibilities

  • A customer-facing role, requiring someone who is confident in building relationships with customers and seeking out opportunities to upsell where possible
  • To operate a forklift safely,looking after the machine and the welfare of others at all times
  • To break down pallets of turf neatly and without damaging the turf. If directed, turf is to be broken down into small pallets for the chiller
  • To accurately and methodically break down crates of stone for collections and deliveries
  • To assist with showing customers around the stone display and demonstrating an exceptional level of knowledge by spring 2025
  • To load and unload a variety of other products that the business sells
  • Assist with washing the lorry down at the end of the week during the busy season
  • Yard to be kept clean at all times and rubbish put in the correct bins

Skills and Qualification

  • Valid forklift truck license
  • Safe and professional working practices

Strong communication and teamwork skills are vital as you will always be expected to provide the best possible customer service.

You will need to adhere to the following rules:

  • To be smart at all times ensure your uniform is clean and presentable
  • Keep the vehicles and premises clean at all times
  • Make sure you are punctual at all times
