Job Title: Vehicle Installer - North Wales PoliceLocation: St Asaph, North Wales

Are you a skilled Vehicle Installer with experience in automotive systems and vehicle equipment installation? North Wales Police is looking for a Vehicle Installer to join their team in St Asaph.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Install equipment and wiring systems (e.g., power, lighting, communications, and data systems) in police vehicles, following approved installation specifications.
  2. Fabricate mounting solutions to house vehicle equipment, ensuring compatibility with vehicle layouts.
  3. Assemble and install pre-fabricated modular components like load carriers and containment cells into vehicles.
  4. Calibrate and road-test installed equipment.
  5. Conduct vehicle and equipment research, determining installation locations and wiring routing when required.
  6. Diagnose and resolve faults in vehicles and equipment installations, escalating high-risk issues when necessary.
  7. Maintain accurate records of time and work completed using the touch screen system.
  8. Keep up to date with installation practices, including attending training courses and maintaining FITAS accreditation.
  9. Decommission police equipment from vehicles prior to disposal.
  10. Ensure adherence to North Wales Police policies on health and safety, equal opportunities, and fleet workshop protocols.
Special Requirements:
  • Minimum Level 4 NVQ technical qualification in the automotive field or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in general engineering skills, including soldering, cutting, and using electronic test equipment.
  • Proficiency in vehicle diagnostic tools and IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and committed to achieving high standards.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, meet targets, and manage time effectively.
  • Full driving licence required for driving police vehicles.
