Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for Welsh Speaking Switch Board Operators to join North Wales Police. Please see the key details below:

  • £15.70 per hour including shift allowance
  • Fully office based in St Asaph
  • This would be a 12 month contract, with a proposed start date of 13th April 2025
  • For this role, you will need to speak Level 4/5 Welsh - please do not apply for this role if you do not have a Level 4 or 5 in Welsh
  • This position will be working Shifts - it is 4 on, 4 off. The earliest start time is 9am, and the latest finish time is 10pm
  • This purpose of this role is: To provide an efficient and effective switchboard service on behalf of North Wales Police.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide a quality customer service to all members of the public.
  • To answer calls received at a centralised switchboard and by use of prescriptive questioning, filter calls and direct callers to the relevant department or person promptly and effectively. Where suitable, advise and resolve at first point of contact.
  • To operate the switchboard fault reporting system in accordance with procedure and notify supervisor if any action is necessary.
  • To support the Control Room Operations as and when required e.g. Major Incident situations.
  • To receive and transmit data and message/data e.g. email and utilise Force Systems to resolve queries.
  • To be aware of Force policies on Equal Opportunities, Ground Rules, Health & Safety and Data Protection and to comply with the legislation and the standards of good practice.
  • Any other duties as directed by a Supervisory Officer commensurate with the post and salary grading.

The role requires applicants who can demonstrate (with evidence) skills in the following areas:

  • Speak Level 4/5 Welsh/ability to communicate fluently through the medium of Welsh and English.
  • Good communication skills together with the ability to work well in a team environment or on their own initiative.
  • The use of information technology to a standard level together with knowledge of Microsoft packages.

Please note, due to Police Criteria you must have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years continuously. Anything less will not be considered
