Techniche Global is supporting a leading suppliers for fixings & fasteners, Unistrut support systems, containment, and site equipment in appointing a Structural Design Engineer to join their expanding team in St Austell, Cornwall.Specialising in fixings and fasters for the M&E Building Services sector, they are seeking an Engineer who can build on the company’s success in this standalone engineering position, to establish and then build a team of engineers around them. The ideal candidate will have expertise in structural design and possess proficiency in various design software tools.Location: Head Office, St Austell, CornwallHours: 8:00am - 5:15pm. 30 min lunch break. Mon-Fri.Reports to: Technical Sales ManagerKey Responsibilities of the Structural Design Engineer:
  • Oversee & manage all structural engineering requirements for M&E related enquiries.
  • Reviewing customers’ technical requirements & manage incoming enquiries in inbox.
  • Utilise software such as CAD, Revit, AutoCAD, and RSTAB for structural design projects
  • Drafting CAD drawings for conceptual and construction works
  • Creatively modelling mechanical and electrical supports using 3D plant software
  • Structurally calculating steel framing solutions using RSTAB software
  • BIM modelling to create building models with the required supports within
  • Creating material take-offs for our workshop and purchasing department
  • Solving support design problems
  • Excellent customer orientated phone communication
  • Conduct site visits to assess build progress and address design issues
  • Assisting with engineering administration tasks (workload planning, administration, prefabrication quality checks etc.)
  • Continually learning about the products, its software plugins, and libraries
  • Manage project timelines and ensure deliverables meet quality standards
  • Utilise Project Management skills to oversee project milestones
  • Adapting to customers according to their industry’s requirements
  • Supporting other members of the team with training & review.
  Experience & Qualifications
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, Navisworks, and RSTAB
  • Basic understanding of mechanical & electrical building systems
  • A degree in engineering
  • Understanding of engineering with bolted connections & modular steelwork
  • Previous use of BIM modelling
  • Experience in structural design and analysis
  • Strong understanding of building codes and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
