Finance Manager - St. Austell / Hybrid - £45-55,000 + Generous bonus, future share options and comprehensive benefits

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a new client… and a relatively new business. We’ve been engaged by a high profile PE backed start up with big plans and a very promising growth trajectory plan, hence they are keen to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to join them as soon as possible. This will be a full time, permanent opportunity to be based at the company’s headquarters in St. Austell (and offering one day per week of hybrid working if required).

Benefiting from working alongside a highly experienced and motivated senior management team that possess a fantastic knowledge of their sector, the incoming Finance Manager will be seen as more than just a company accountant. This is a role where the successful candidate will not only shape their own function from the ground up and futureproofing for growth, they’ll also have their voices heard in all aspects of the company’s operational and strategic direction. The role represents an exceptional opportunity for a switched on and motivated accounting professional that wants to develop in a truly diverse capacity. Key responsibilities to include:

- Develop, implement and streamline robust accounting systems and procedures from day one

- Regularly report financial performance to senior management team and external shareholders to include the presentation of high quality management accounts

- Ensure excellent financial controls, managing AP, AR, reconciliations etc.

- Work with SMT in the production of budgets, forecasts and cashflow analysis

- Prepare high quality statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP and IFRS

- Treasury management

- Cost accounting controls

- Work closely with external tax advisors on all aspects of HMRC taxation reporting

- Ongoing preparation in readiness for external audit

- Recruit, mentor a train additional colleagues to shape a highly efficient finance function

For this role we seek a talented and highly motivated Finance Manager with a high level of commercial awareness and the ability to report at board level, as well as rolling up their sleeves during the company’s early days. Applicants may be professionally part/fully qualified (ideally CIMA/ACCA/ACA), though candidates that possess sufficient vocational experience will be given equal consideration, particularly if gained within a start-up and/or PE backed environment. This is an opportunity where disposition and work ethic will be key as you’ll be working as part of fast paced and passionate team. The business is highly technology driven so applicants should possess excellent IT aptitude in traditional and modern digital accounting systems.
