Smart4Chemicals are looking to recruit a Senior Scientist for one of our clients based in the Cornwall area.

In order to be considered for the role of Senior Scientist you must be degree educated as a minimum in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Materials Science in addition to previous industrial experience. PhD in any of these subjects preferred.

As a Senior Scientist you will be responsible for leading product development, conducting R&D, characterising and testing materials whilst collaborating with cross functional teams.

Role responsibilities

  • Take up an active role in leading product development within the business for hydrogen-related products. Ensuring that all customer requirements are met within product development.
  • Conduct hand on R&D studies focusing on electrocatalysts, coatings and other system components within the organisation.
  • Develop and apply a variety of testing methods to evaluate the performance, durability and stability of electrocatalysts and coatings.
  • Manage and maintain scale-up methods and collaborate with the manufacturing team to design safe and scalable production.

Role requirements

  • Bachelors educated as a minimum in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Polymer Chemistry or Materials Science alongside relevant industrial experience relating to the responsibilities listed above. PhD preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience in electrochemical materials, specifically hydrogen fuel cells & electrolysers, coatings formulation, synthesis and materials characterisation & testing.
  • Previous experience in managing and delivering multiple projects at once.
