Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Finance Analyst to join their team on a permanent basis

You will

  1. Undertaking Strategic Service Reviews and business intelligence gathering to inform budget setting discussions and prioritisation of resource allocations
  2. Preparation of specific strategic financial reports held within the Income and Expenditure and Balance Sheet accounts to Budget Holders and Stakeholders
  3. Researching of specialist areas to ensure knowledge base is kept up to date and customers and stakeholders are suitably informed and updated
  4. Undertaking due diligence checks to ensure new undertakings can enable the protection of public investment
  5. Forecasting and modelling of financial and related metric data to promote effective decision making and ensure efficient and effective use of resources
  6. Critically examining performance management information to ensure information reported is accurate and reliable and correctly links financial with service performance information
  7. Assisting with the development of the business planning process for client departments to ensure plans contains robust and accurate historic and forecast financial information
  8. Undertaking benchmarking/cost driver analysis to ensure council services and stakeholders are aware of the relative current and future position of their services
  9. Undertaking company assessments to corporate standards to ensure sound investment decisions can be made in relation to the council's procurement arrangements
  10. Developing outline and detailed business cases for major capital schemes of client departments to ensure schemes are put forward for approval in accordance with corporate procedures and standards
  11. Supporting the financial aspects of specific project work in client departments to ensure the Finance Service is the first point of contact in all new projects undertaken
  12. Undertaking investment and options appraisals to ensure strategic decisions can be made in the light of key financial analysis and information
  13. Advising and supporting elected members to enable them to fulfil their roles fully with regards to financial stewardship and in particular financial reporting and governance.
