My client is looking for am experienced Finance Assistant. They pride their selves on delivering professional yet personal services, tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. This role is based in Cornwall and involves assisting in the efficient running of the finance function, supporting both domestic and commercial projects across Cornwall and Devon.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support the Operations Director in completing quarterly closings and assisting in the design and implementation of new financial systems and processes.
  • Prepare quarterly management accounts and reconcile and prepare lead schedules for all balance sheet accounts, with initial emphasis on pensions and retentions and their collection.
  • Manage forecasting, verifying, and invoicing accrued retentions.
  • Handle invoicing and credit control, including the collection of specific nonperforming debtor balances and the monitoring and control of outstanding payment notices.
  • Assist in the development of KPIs and KPI reporting.
  • Prepare monthly applications/valuations, administer them to agreed payment schedules, manage the resolution of any queries, chase overdue payment notices, and ensure invoicing is timely, accurate, and complete.
  • Design spreadsheets and manage Access DB where applicable.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (Pivot tables, lookups, Get & Transform).
  • Experience working in finance functions and a working knowledge of systems and processes of financial control.
  • An understanding of Construction Accounting and experience with reconciliation works.
  • Credit control experience and knowledge of stock control systems are desirable.
  • Qualifications: At least to final year ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent (including by experience). A full driving licence is desirable.
  • Disposition: Willingness to learn, self-starter, numerate, punctual, reliable, motivated, works well in a team and independently, and effectively listens to instructions.
