Do you work in a Care, School, Nursery, Residential, Support, or Extra-curricular setting with children? Have you always wanted to work in SEND provision with children, but feared you don't have the right experience / qualifications? Working within SEND can provide a rewarding and challenging routine. We are currently working in partnership with a specialist provision, Primary SEND Sports College, to recruit supportive and flexible teaching assistants to work within their EYFS and Key Stage 1 Provision. They are looking for the right person over qualifications to offer support (academic / emotional) in the school setting. Successful candidates should be available for interview ASAP with a view to starting this role after Easter term and continuing to September term. Your new company. They boast impressive facilities for SEND and can provide a unique insight into the resources available for SEND provision. They have a full-size swimming pool, with a hydrotherapy pool attached, as well as Sensory Gardens and a Sensory intervention base. Their Key Stage One provision provides unique learning for pupils in line with their needs and likes to incorporate pupils' interests in lessons. Learners have the opportunity to explore through the Forest School Programme and the Performing Arts. They are seeking a member of staff who can bring a holistic view to development and build strong transferable skills which will service their students well both inside of education and beyond. Your new role. You will be required to immerse yourself in the EYFS / KS1 provision and offer an abridged curriculum in line with development and EHCP'S. Class sizes will be smaller with a higher ratio of adults to children to offer a more specialised support structure. You will work closely with the KS1 transition teams to incorporate enrichment opportunities into lessons. Some additional care and toileting may be required due to the age of the children. You will be provided with support to build your confidence in working with SEN pupils and make strong bonds with the children in your care. You will also help the class teacher assess pupils and make sure learning material is accessible to pupils to aid development and learning. Experience in SEND additional needs is not always necessary as the school will provide support for the right applicant. You will take part in training in line with the school CPD calendar. What you will need to succeed:

  • A minimum of 30 days experience working with children in the past 3 years.
  • Ability to work 1:1 and in a group setting.
  • Strong commutation skills.
  • Work constructively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work alongside children with SEN / behavioural needs.
  • Up-to-date DBS preferred.
