Communication Support / Speech and Language Teaching Assistant needed for Newton le Willows Mainstream Primary school - Easter 2025 Start. We are working in partnership to recruit skilled individuals who have a flare and passion for working with children with Speech and Language needs. They are looking for someone who can make bonds quickly and present a warm and friendly persona. The school promotes outdoor play, and you will be working with a small group of pupils in KS1 experiencing Speech and Language difficulties who are not working at the expected level. The school is located in the Newton area of St Helens and has access to local nature parks and outdoor facilities. They pride themselves on promoting an inclusive ethos and having a supportive and nurturing environment for staff and pupils. They will welcome applicants from a care / Speech and Language background. A successful candidate will be subject to DfE vetting checks. Hours - 37.5 hours per week Fixed term 12 months subject to funding with contract extension We can provide support in interviews and tips on how to be successful in schools. Your new company. Your new role will include supporting pupils in KS1 with Speech and Language interventions and may require some general classroom support. You may be required to work outside the classroom and provide support throughout the year in assessing language development gaps. You will be engaging in and monitoring behaviour in a variety of ways and adhere to school policies. You will be ensuring pupil engagement and use / provide resource materials to suit attainment / SEN needs. You will work closely with the school SENCo / Pastoral Team and outside agencies to provide Speech and Language provisions. What you will need to succeed.

  • Recent experience of working in Speech and Language or working with children in the last 3 years.
  • Provide relevant references.
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and flexibility.
  • Highly motivated and driven to exceed expectations.
  • Up-to-date DBS preferred (Hays can supply if needed).
