Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in St Helens as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced teaching assistant for a long-term temporary contract. This role is based in KS2 (Key Stage 2) but does include additional support across the EYFS and KS1 classes. This is a full-time temporary contract starting in May, but an immediate start can be accommodated.Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based in KS2, supporting all-year groups from 3 to 6. You will work alongside the class teacher to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment by effectively managing resources and utilising a variety of learning equipment. You will offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects, including intense sessions within a separate classroom to lower/mixed ability pupils. As this is a varied role, you will at times be required to support the EYFS and KS1 classes, aiding in general classroom management and supporting with interventions and phonics sessions. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies across all classes, with the school's preference being positive behaviour reinforcement. There are a number of pupils with SEN across the school that have allocated 1:1 support that will require your assistance at times.What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience working with KS2 aged students in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Confidence to support all primary year groups as required
  • Extensive experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • The ability to implement positive behaviour strategies
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
