An opportunity has become available for a Facilities Engineer at a major industrial gases production facility in St Helens.

The successful candidate will be an experienced time served technician who has a broad engineering and process operational background together with strong practical knowledge including permit to work and contractor control. Joining a small team of facilities engineers you will provide maintenance and operational support for the main process site in St Helens and its satellites.

You will be an will have process or commissioning experience along with strong practical SHEQ knowledge.


The role:

To manage the maintenance and associated management system alongside standard facility engineer roles. This role will require multi-discipline skills in electrical, mechanical or instrument engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • In this role, you willsupervise, control & maintain plants in a multidisciplinary capacity to ensure all customer demands are met with minimal liquid support to meet agreed budget targets
  • Plan and co-ordinate maintenance activities at main site and satellite locations to agreed company and industry standards
  • In addition, you will supervise contract personnel in accordance with Permit to Work requirements and actively support the sites safety, health, environmental & quality goals and targets
  • You will act as senior person on site for plant emergencies and implement any appropriate site emergency plans
  • Furthermore, you will inspect and check all operating plant and machinery on a regular basis, which includes diagnosing faults and provide feedback for rectification
  • And lastly, you will participate in maintaining the sites on call system

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • You have an NVQ level 3 (minimum) with a HNC (preferred) in an engineering discipline (Instrument/Electrical/Mechanical)
  • Several years relevant practical working experience in a similar role
  • In addition, you have a good base knowledge and understanding of industry and statutory standards and codes of practice
  • Detailed knowledge of Permit to Work procedures
  • You have a good understanding of current Health, Safety and Environment legislation (NEBOSH certificate preferred but not essential)
  • Furthermore, you have knowledge of operating chemical and process plant equipment
