Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Fitter/Turner to join our client's engineering team in St Helens. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of mechanical tasks, focusing on drilling, tapping, fitting, and turning. This role is critical to the assembly, repair, and maintenance of components used across various engineering projects, ensuring high-quality standards and precision.

Key Responsibilities:

- Drilling and Tapping: Conduct drilling and tapping operations to prepare materials and components for further assembly or installation.

- Turning and Machining: Operate lathes and other machinery to turn parts and ensure precise, accurate shaping according to specifications.

- Assembly & Fitting: Assemble and fit parts, ensuring all components are correctly aligned and functional.

- Quality Control: Inspect and test finished products for accuracy and adherence to specifications.

- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance on workshop equipment and troubleshoot machinery issues as needed.

- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to company health and safety protocols, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in drilling, tapping, turning, and other machining operations. Familiarity with lathes, drill presses, and other workshop machinery.

- Attention to Detail: Ability to work with precision, ensuring accuracy and high quality in all tasks.

- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.

- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards.
