Our client, a market-leading UK manufacturer of Building Products, is seeking a Technical Director to drive their technical development and support their strategic growth in the industrial, commercial, and residential construction sectors.

Position Overview

As the Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and directing a team of technical designers, CAD/Revit operators, and estimators. You will be responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of technical solutions into the company's product portfolio, contributing to the development of high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of technical designers, CAD/Revit operators, and estimators

  • Drive technical development assignments to integrate solutions into the product portfolio

  • Identify and select strategic design and technical assignments to develop high-quality solutions

  • Support work winning activities through the delivery of feasibility designs

  • Build and maintain an external network of client, supplier stakeholders, and trade associations

  • Ensure the implementation of technical solutions meets quality standards and client expectations

  • Co-own ISO accreditation and audit processes

  • Explore new technologies to enhance current solutions

  • Establish and embed an estimating function for commercial viability

  • Collaborate with commercial functions to support strategic growth

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, or similar

  • Proven experience in Quality Assurance & BoM Control/Estimation

  • Knowledge of MEP systems

  • Demonstrated technical project management and leadership experience with multi-disciplinary teams

  • Understanding of internal stakeholder engagement and work winning activity

  • Track record in implementing improvement measures in a technical department

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management abilities

  • Capability to translate technical concepts into practical commercial solutions

  • Experience in implementing and managing ISO and associated certification standards
