We are recruiting for a permanent Workshop Controller for a well established Plant Hire company based in Saint Helens Merseyside, supporting house builders and the construction industry on a national basis.

The company pride themselves on providing their customers with the latest plant machinery backed up by a first class service.

Hours:

Monday to Friday - 39 hours (7am - 4pm)

Salary: Basic salary of £35k per annum depending on experience

Location: Haydock (St Helens, Merseyside)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Workshop Controller to join our busy team. In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of our workshop, ensuring our plant hire fleet is maintained to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Breakdown Management: Receive and log equipment breakdowns promptly.
  • Engineer Allocation: Dispatch engineers to repair equipment efficiently and effectively.
  • Parts Ordering: Source and order necessary parts for repairs, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Damage Assessment & Charging: Assess equipment damage, determine repair costs, and accurately charge customers for repairs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts orders.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in workshop processes and implement solutions.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a plant hire workshop environment is essential.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of plant hire equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
