Job Title: Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join a leading Nuclear Infrastructure Programme. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Major Projects, guiding them through the entire lifecycle—from concept and specification to design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
Your experience should include working with a diverse range of industrial plants and processes, such as pumps, generators, SKID systems, and HVAC, with a particular focus on the design and assessment of safety-critical systems and components within hazardous environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Design & Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards and practices, including British and European Standards.
- Safety Management: Manage design intent, critical safety factors, and operational requirements to ensure systems meet safety and operational standards.
- Emerging Technology: Identify opportunities to integrate emerging technologies in the re-engineering of assets or new CAPEX projects.
- Documentation Management: Oversee the development, management, and revision of design documentation, including changes and concessions.
- Design Validation: Check and review calculations and technical assessments to meet safety case requirements.
- MRO/RAMS Development: Produce and manage MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) schedules, RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) schedules, and operating procedures to ensure safety and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Technical Justifications: Develop technical justifications to support civil/structural design modifications and ensure they are authorized.
- Safety Case Development: Lead HAZID/HAZOP studies and contribute to the development of safety cases.
- Committee Presentations: Present design solutions to safety committees for approval.
- Periodic Safety Reports: Manage and oversee periodic safety reviews and reports to ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards.
- Educational Requirements: Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer or Design Engineer.
- Experience: Proven experience in the design, specification, and validation of electrical distribution networks, including HV/LV systems, switchgear, transformers, and cabling.
- Industry Experience: Strong background in safety-critical, hazardous environments, such as Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, or Marine industries.
- Safety Case Development: Experience in the development and management of safety cases, including HAZID/HAZOP studies.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with safety-related structures, systems, and components operating in high-risk environments.
- Experience with system integration and the specification of plant and equipment for complex, high-risk environments.
- Expertise in the management and delivery of CAPEX projects, from design through decommissioning and upgrades.
