Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Substance Misuse Worker to start a new role in St. Helens.

We are looking for an experienced Substance Misuse Worker to engage with young people around education and harm reduction.

The St Helens Young People’s Drug and Alcohol Team delivers a wide range of services to reduce the harm to young people caused by substance misuse. The service works on an individual basis with young people as well as delivering group work, events, training to the children and young people’s workforce and support for families.

This position is initially for a period of 5 months with the view of extending and pays £18.76 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • To undertake assessments appropriate for young people using the service and their families as required. This will also include the use of EHAT (CAF).
  • To manage a caseload to plan, implement and review individuals referred to the service.
  • To work in line with NICE and other national and local guidelines to develop and deliver flexible and creative programmes of intervention for young people to address problematic substance misuse. This will also include providing health education, especially regarding harm minimisation, blood borne viruses and overdose prevention.
  • To support the pharmacological treatment of young people and work with prescribing services to assist with the management of withdrawal, cravings, detoxification, relapse prevention and maintenance.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Experience: Experience working with young people
  • Qualifications: Level 3 or equivalent in health, youth work, social work or similar
  • Compliance: Enhanced Children DBS, Right to Work in the UK
  • Hours: 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday
  • Travel: Full UK driving license
