Senior Engineering Manager

Our client is a multinational manufacturing company based in the Cambridgeshire area.

They are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who will take on overall responsibility and accountability for the Engineering function across EMEA, including South Africa.

The Senior Engineering Manager will be involved with the Engineering strategy, people and budgetary management (both functional and project/capex) and be part of the senior management team. This role could also support on Engineering work in Asia pacific and other global work.

Main functions / responsibilities for the Senior Engineering Manager:

  • Develop a 3-year rolling Engineering strategy that supports and drives the business strategy by implementing best practise & new technologies whilst adhering to Environmental, Health and Safety, engineering and quality standards and GDPR / other legislation.
  • Oversea the engineering team to ensure all in year EMEA engineering work is prioritised and completed on time and in full to our client’s quality standards.
  • Lead, manage and develop the engineering team, ensuring there is a vision, engineering policies, procedures, record capture and management, standards and competency assessment and development creating a high performing team. Set annual performance goals and departmental objectives. including KPls, and to track them.
  • Manage the Engineering operational budget including utilities / business rates as well as Capex budget for general facility works. Overview of all CAPEX engineering projects and produce accurate estimates and timelines.
  • Build safety first into everything engineering do, as well as having a role in Executive Management Safety committee and conduct safety reviews overseas as required.
  • Report on Engineering activities and KPI’s on a regular basis to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of the relevant Key Performance Indicators.
  • Review environmental strategies that impact on future ways of operating and ensure implementation where possible. Review the use of technological systems that support a more environmentally friendly approach. Ensure environmental audits for engineering activities are carried out. Review opportunities to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Support the business on SECR, GHG, ESOS reporting requirements and EPR packaging compliance.

Experience / Qualifications for The Senior Engineering Manager:

Education: Degree in relevant engineering discipline.

Member of an industry related Professional Body.

Experience of leading and Engineering team and Engineering experience within manufacturing discipline.

Control engineering experience in PLC

Safety NEBOSH certificate

Certified electrician

Monday to Friday days 37.5 hour working week
