Job DescriptionConveyancing Direct Property Lawyers, part of the leading property services business Connells Group, are looking for a Financial Controller to lead their Finance team in St Leonards.The ideal candidate will be qualified (ACCA,CIMA or ICAEW) with extensive experience in working for a complex organisation. This is a hands-on role where you will lead a team, oversee transactional finance and manage financial strategy.Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Financial Reporting & Monitoring: Oversee management and financial accounts, ensure timely reporting, and optimise cash flow.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Monitor revenue and capital budgets, ensure accurate forecasting, and perform sensitivity analyses.
  • Product Cost Modelling: Review cost models for remortgage sales and purchases.
  • Control Environment: Ensure strong financial controls, recommend improvements, and oversee finance system integration. Maintain working knowledge of CLC accounting rules. Team Leadership: Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring performance and covering key roles when needed.
  • Audit & Compliance: Liaise with auditors, ensure compliance with IFRS, Companies Act, and manage insurance policies.
  • Tax Management: Liaise with Group Tax Department regarding Corporation Tax & VAT.
Skills and Qualifications required:Qualifications - ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW.
  • Strong communication: well-spoken, friendly, and able to work with different people.
  • Approachable and friendly, making it easy for others to connect.
  • Positive attitude, willing to help and support.
  • Organisational skills able to adapt to different tasks and situations whilst working to deadlines.
  • Responsible and trustworthy, maintaining professionalism.
  • Proficient in computers, especially in Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
  • Collaboration & relationships – between Finance and non-finance stakeholders
