Project Engineer

  • Own transportation is required due to the company location.
  • Permanent Position.
  • 40 hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.

Office-based with travel to customer sites in the UK and potentially overseas

Our client, a market leader in processing equipment manufacture is seeking a talented Project Engineer to join their dynamic projects team. The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering background and a proven track record of successfully delivering projects, preferably within the food/ processing industry or a related engineering environment.

This is an office-based role, with occasional visits to customer sites as part of the job. The position may also require overnight trips within the UK and international travel. In some cases, the Project Engineer may need to oversee on-site installations and manage subcontractors, both in the UK and abroad.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of contracts from order receipt to successful installation and handover
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal departments throughout the project life-cycle
  • Develop and agree on project scope with customers and sales team
  • Manage project schedule using Gantt charts
  • Generate project documentation such as Scope of Supply, timing plans, P&IDs, BOMs, and layout drawings
  • Source and specify bought-out components and equipment
  • Oversee equipment delivery, installation, and customer acceptance testing
  • Handle project changes and ensure timely invoicing
  • Coordinate subcontractors and oversee installations on-site in the UK and abroad

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a process engineering environment, preferably in the Food Processing Industry
  • Demonstrated success in managing engineering projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with various stakeholders
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude with a problem-solving mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) and MS Project
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD LT
  • Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, pipework, and basic electrical control systems
  • Valid UK driving licence
