If so, join St Neots Neurological Centre as an Associate Specialist, where you will be providing treatment to men and women who an acquired or traumatic brain injury or other neurological conditions.

With the support of a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide psychiatric and external assessments. You will support the consultant in the assessment of service users referred to the service and will work with the MDT to ensure delivery of the Care Programme.

As an Associate Specialist, you will ensure the high quality first-line medical care of our inpatients, liaise effectively with external professionals and carers, provide written and oral evidence for Hospital Managers’ and Tribunal hearings, work towards safe discharges including preparing discharge summaries, reports and other necessary documentation and be a valued and effective member of the multidisciplinary team at St Neots.

You will also ensure an adequate handover to colleagues including out of hours, seek collateral history from other professionals and family, and complete discharge letters/reports/s62 forms as required.

You will be part of a group of Consultant Psychiatrists, who share the on-call rota.

Other Responsibilities include:

· Preparing First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearing reports under the supervision of Consultant.

· Provide medical reports and attend CPA meetings to review care of patients with NHS England case managers and community care co-ordinators

· Providing oral evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings under the supervision of the Consultant (Depending on your experience).

· Contributing to the service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities by conducting audits, research and teaching if required.

· Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that patients are able to access appropriate medical cover at all times, and participate in the on-call rota.

· Participate in learning activities and supervision

· Deliver staff training

· Share responsibility for taking bloods and ECGs as necessary.

· Providing prospective cover to other specialty doctors when they are on leave.

· Liaising with GP and practice nurse regarding physical healthcare of patients.

· Emergency treatment with patients with complex care.

· Undertaking psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the MDT to ensure delivery of the Care Programme.

· Arranging appropriate clinical tests and investigations and take responsibility for chasing up results and acting on them in a timely manner.

· Any other duties considered to be commensurate with the level of the post.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

· Full GMC registration

· Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams

· To be linked in with an appraisal/RITA process within the last year

· Experience in Psychiatry

· Experience working as a doctor within similar environment

· MRCPsych (desirable)
