We Are Hiring: Financial ControllerWe are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join a fantastic business in Stafford. This role will report directly to the Managing Director and oversee a team of six across two locations.

The Financial Controller will play a critical role in accounting, reporting, and management activities, working closely with the Managing Director to ensure smooth financial operations. This is a multifaceted position, emphasising standardising group reporting, delivering detailed financial information, and supporting local teams in accurate forecasting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the budget process.

  • Producing monthly management accounts in line with group deadlines.

  • Overseeing working capital, including weekly cashflow forecasts.

  • Ensuring balance sheet controls and reconciliations are maintained.

  • Assisting in presenting management accounts and financial data at monthly board meetings.

  • Managing the year-end audit process.

  • Analysing project Cost Valuation Reporting (CVRs) and providing constructive challenges.

  • Training, motivating, and evaluating team members; creating development and succession plans.

  • Identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities.

  • Acting as a business partner between Finance and other departments for cohesive operations.

  • Reviewing and signing off payroll.

  • Ensuring compliance with statutory returns (e.g., VAT, CIS, PAYE).

  • Establishing and enforcing adequate controls in all areas of responsibility.

  • Supporting ad hoc projects as required by the Managing Director.

About You

We are looking for a strong, confident professional capable of stepping into an existing finance function and driving improvements. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least five years of post-qualification experience.

  • Knowledge of FRS 102 would be an advantage

  • Technological competence and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience working in a medium-sized, high-growth environment.

  • Proven line management experience
