About the Role
We are currently seeking a Fire Service and Maintenance Engineer to join our clients dynamic team. This position primarily focuses on delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM) services, including the repair and maintenance of life safety systems, while adhering to health and safety protocols. Each day offers a new environment and location to work in, providing variety and a chance to engage with clients directly, ensuring the highest level of customer service.

Our client is a top-tier national provider of fire safety, security, and electrical services, specializing in the social housing sector. As they expand with new contracts, they are looking for skilled engineers to join their team, contributing to installations, testing, inspections, and repairs. Our client prioritizes progression, learning, and tenant safety, and they seek individuals who value attention to detail, communication, and pride in their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and install fire alarm systems (BS5839-1) and emergency lighting, as well as Nurse Call and Access Control systems in line with British Standards.
  • Complete detailed service reports for all work performed.
  • Identify and report any system deficiencies or deviations.
  • Maintain and inspect emergency lighting and related equipment, such as fire extinguishers and AOVs.
  • Conduct regular van stock checks and collaborate with the Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement team to ensure adequate stock levels.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, identifying and reporting any potential risks.
  • Aim for first-time fixes when possible.

Key Requirements:

  • Flexible and able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to earn more through weekends and out-of-hours callouts.
  • A full UK driving license.
  • Previous experience with fire alarm systems, including knowledge of analogue addressable and conventional systems.
  • FIA training (or equivalent) to BS5839-1 Fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with BS5839, particularly parts 1 and 6.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations.
