Satis Education are recruiting! An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic leader to join our client school in Staffordshire as an Interim Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral). As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will play a vital role in driving the pastoral care of our students, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role will involve leading the development and implementation of our pastoral systems, supporting staff, and working closely with students and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and delivery of the school’s pastoral care programme.
  • Promote the well-being and personal development of all students.
  • Monitor and support the academic, social, and emotional progress of students, particularly those with additional needs or vulnerabilities.
  • Provide leadership to the pastoral team, ensuring high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement across the school.
  • Work collaboratively with other leaders and staff to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Lead on safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring the safety and welfare of students at all times.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Support the creation and implementation of pastoral intervention strategies for students requiring additional support.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pastoral programmes, making improvements as necessary.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a school, ideally with a focus on pastoral care.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to ensuring every student is supported to reach their full potential.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to build positive relationships across all stakeholders.
