Electrical Wireperson / Electrician

Stafford - travel required

30k-50k (plus overtime)

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Install and terminate LV, HV, and control cabling to spec.
• Wire panels and protection/control systems in substations.
• Perform glanding, crimping, insulation resistance testing.
• Work to electrical drawings, ITPs, QA documents.
• Support commissioning phases where qualified.
• Comply with National Grid safety rules.
• Apply lock-off/tag-out procedures.
• Participate in energisation stages.
• Persons (National Grid) certification mandatory.
• Daily adherence to RAMS, PoWRAs, and ITPs.
• Use appropriate PPE at all times.
• Participate in toolbox talks, daily briefings, and SHEQ audits.
• Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses immediately.
• Maintain compliance with site welfare, access, and conduct rules.

Experience

• Insulation testers, multimeters, test lamps.
• Cable rollers, conduit benders, drum jacks.
• Portable power tools, cable pullers.
• ECS/JIB Gold Card (not required for wire persons).
• National Grid Persons qualifications.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (not required for wire persons).
• Awareness of protection schemes.
